LEI provides research and policy direction for cities and regional planning to address increasing rates of urbanisation and the consequential pressures urbanisation places on land, water and other natural resources.
There is a greater need to provide infrastructure and services to growing populations. This requires new thinking and the delivery of innovative solutions in the field of urban management. LEI provides a range of services associated with urban management and planning including:
- Development of urban management and public policy, land use planning and zoning, urban and regional master planning, urban sustainability assessments
- Comparative studies for competitive cities, and
- Slum upgrading and affordable housing.
